Mr. Linden's Library

MR. LINDEN'S LIBRARY

He had warned her about the book.
Now it was too late.

One of my favorite books as a kid was The Mysteries of Harris Burdick by Chris van Allsburg. A series of images only accompanied by a title and a line of the relating story--they left you dreaming all day. I can't believe this book was written the year I was born; it's still as interesting and eerie as when it was first published.

Years later, in middle school my English teacher brought that same children's book to class. We each had to pick an image and write a short story to accompany it.

That's where my love of words and invoking moods began. That's where it took root. In books first, then through pen on paper.
