Roasted.

Cool weather always makes me crave warm meals. I decided to roast up some chicken I had in the freezer, along with some fingerling potatoes, and seasoned it all with lemon, olive oil, and fresh herbs.

I should have taken a picture before it all went into the oven. The pale meat against the bright green of the herbs, and the yellow of the lemon...never has raw chicken looked so pretty.

The smell of roasted chicken was apparently not just alluring to me:

Why is it that the simplest meals are the most satisfying?

Blooming tea.

Here are some of my Christmas presents in action:

I've wanted a clear glass teapot for ages. As a bonus, my mom gave me tons of gorgeous blossoming tea. This tea tastes as beautiful as it looks.

Snow Walk.

Santa listened to my wishes and it started snowing on Christmas. It's kept up for most of the day.

It's my girl Jane Austen's birthday.

Happy 235th birthday, Jane!

I really think that Jane Austen's birthday should be a national holiday for single girls. This day would be celebrated by having the day off from work, sleeping in, watching Jane Austen film adaptations, and drinking Earl Grey tea. All in a big sweater and yoga pants. Yup, sounds like a perfect mid-December holiday to me.

Fact + Fiction

I've decided to join the land of Tumblr. Check out my Tumblr, Fact + Fiction. I'm still figuring out what info will go where, but if you're interesting it will probably amount to a lot of reblogging, stop on by. If you have a Tumblr yourself, let me know and we can be Tumblr pals!

Cute boys in history.

Today's installment of "Cute Boys in History" comes from Arlington, TX.

I'm looking at you, boy on the far left and boy second from right (look at that hat at a jaunty angle).

Look at those sweet motorcycles. Who cares what their faces look like.

Light bright.

My first attempt at Christmas lights.

I'm not a big fan of a whole mess of Christmas lights all over (on my house; I love it on other peoples' homes) and am pretty pleased with my first attempt at hanging Christmas lights.

Plus, it kind of turns my porch into a stage. I'm going to learn some sweet tap dances and start selling tickets. These suckers are never coming down.

Feeling dotty.

My little Charlie Brown Christmas tree:

My tree reminds me of this Jenny Han dress I'm selling on eBay:

For the mens.

I'll be setting up a new, albeit small, men's section on seek vintage in the next day or two. My plan is to get this section growing over the coming months. Here are my current offerings:

This cotton work shirt has possibly never been worn. I'll definitely need to steam/iron it before putting it up on Etsy. I could totally see Don Draper cutting the grass in this shirt.

Christian Dior tie. Hard to see in this photo, but it's navy blue with tiny "D" emblems.

Another Christian Dior tie. I love me some paisley.

The perfectly worn-in brown leather belt.

Primary Colors: Three Vintage Finds

Diane von Furstenberg map shirt (1980s) SOLD

Aileen Pennington ruffle blouse (1960s) SOLD

Renee Marciel Originals silk dupioni cocktail dress (1950s) SOLD

I got to do a few Goodwill thrifting trips while in North Carolina for Thanksgiving. I love seeing these primary colors hanging alongside each other. I'll be posting more of my finds on the blog and on seek vintage in the next few days.

I still like Coldplay...so what? ("Christmas Lights")

I think this music video is precious. I love the violin-playing Elvises.

I Hope This Gets To You: A Viral Love Letter

I just saw this on Gizmodo, who has this to say about the video:

"The video was put together by a guy named Walter C. May and his roommates—who just happen to be in a band called The Daylights. It was posted on YouTube yesterday and has since then been tweeted about by May's friends, random strangers, and even Katy Perry.
But May's girlfriend, for whom the video was made, hasn't seen it yet.
That's because May wanted the video to reach her organically—through tweets, links passed between friends, and blog posts. He wanted to show his girl that they "can feel close without having to be close every day," and that their relationship can remain strong even though they'll be thousands of miles apart over the next two years."

I really hope this story is true and not just a way to get his band some attention.

And if it is true, I love it, I love it, I love it.
