I haven't worn/shopped Tommy Hilfiger since probably early high school, but his most recent holiday ad has charmed the socks off of me:
Does anyone else get a bit of a Royal Tenenbaums vibe from some of the younger models? The girl with the side part and sunglasses and the boy with the sweatband are so Wes Andersonian.

"Here Comes the Sun Again"
I've already mentioned that car and cell phone commercials seem to pick my favorite songs, or if I haven't heard a song and it's on a car or cell phone commercial, I'll probably love it (the exception: pick-up truck commercials).
Well, this commercial is no exception: M. Ward, flowers in hair, running away from everyone, a short white dress, and a rainstorm. I love it.

"Stole My Heart"
Kindle's latest commercial, created by the same girlfriend and boyfriend team (Ithyle Griffiths and Heather Kohler) that did this adorable music video, is a new favorite. And it's not even because of the nautical theme and stripes. Though that helps.
Here's the first Kindle commercial, as a refresher:
I wish all commercials were like this.

At The Red House...
So, while I was hanging out with my friend Cathy in Vermont, she shared something with me that is so cool that I had to pass it along. The thing that is so cool is this: ilovelocalcommercials.com.
Basically, Rhett & Link, two dudes from the great state of NC (and NC State alums) work with local businesses to create original (and freaking hilarious...to me, at least) local commericals for them. The best part? The commercials are created at no cost (this means FREE) to those small businesses.
Would you like to see some of the work they've done? Well, OK then...look below:
"I used to be a gynecologist in Cuba. Now I sell cars here in America."
"At The Red House, where black people and white people buy furniture. And Hispanic people too. And all people."
"So come on down to Cullman Liquidation and get yourself a home. Or don't. I don't care."
You can nominate your favorite local business(es) so that they can get a cool commercial too, so go to their site and make stuff happen!

I have a Lolita complex...
...but not in a Humbert Humbert kind of way.

Probably my all-time favorite perfume is Lolita Lempicka. I bought it ages ago and now that it's on its last dregs, I only wear a dab here and there when I'm feeling just so. Besides getting little samplers of the other Lolita perfumes, I've never really worn them or tried them out.
But then I saw on decor8 that there is a new Lolita perfume "Si Lolita" out in France, and this pretty little commercial has been airing in Europe:
And now my interest is sparked again. Maybe once I finally run out of classic Lolita Lempicka, I'll try one of the others...they're all so pretty:

Learn more about them here.

Marion Cotillard is Lady Dior
Audrey did Chanel and now Marion is doing Dior! I love these fashion mini-movies, especially when they feature my favorite French actresses.

Zooey for Everything

Zooey Deschanel is doing a great job advertising things lately. She's the face of Oliver Peoples' 2009 campaign and even got a pair of sunglasses named after her.
They made an adorable mini-movie to go along with the campaign:
And on the subject of glasses, I think this pair is going to be the winner for my new frames:

I feel a little nervous about red frames, but I LOVE the contrast.

Tudors-related.
I am not normally one to post celebrity heartthrob items (or else this blog would be filled to the brim with items about Ryan Gosling, which is just plain embarrasing), but when I saw the commercial below, I had to share it. The commercial features Henry Cavill, who plays Charles Brandon in The Tudors.
The commerial so classy, and, well, just plain hot. The marketing companies for "Axe" "Tag" and other three-letter generic body sprays that smell like floor polish, should take notes. Commercials where hot girls turn into animals willing to rip off their clothes from a mere whiff of a scent that smells more like toilet cleaner than a men's fragrance is only going to attract pimply 14-year-old boys and 20-something guys with the maturity of 14-year-old boys.
After seeing this commercial, however, I am considering purchasing several bottles. Maybe I'll just buy stock in the company. Quality advertising works, people. Put a really attractive guy in a nice-fitting suit in a sweet sportscar with a gorgeous girl and show all sorts of hints of seduction and every man who watches will want to buy the cologne to be that guy, and every girl will buy the cologne to attempt to turn her boyfriend into that guy. This commercial ran in England...I wonder how Dunhill Black's sales were right before Valentine's Day...

I Wish.
This morning, when I woke up and checked the weather it said: "22 degrees, feels like 11 degrees." In Charleston? NO THANKS!
It's days like today where I want to be the girl in the above commercial for Miss Dior Cherie, directed by the great Sofia Coppola. I want to be a pretty girl, with pretty hair, a pretty dress and pretty apartment, riding her pretty bike around pretty Paris while she eats pretty treats and sprays herself with pretty perfume.
Pretty.

All for Bread?
If you've seen this post, you know that I appreciate a good commercial.
When I saw this one in my VSL email today, I had to share it. I love how some commercials can be like a short film...they show so much in just a few moments.

When I Grow Up, I Want to Be a Fashion Designer
I usually love American Express commercials anyway (kudos to their Marketing Dept.), and when I saw this one, I was absolutely in love. Having her as the guest judge on Project Runway last night was awesome, because they played this commercial on every break and I still didn't get tired of it.
I love how they take away the corporate feel that seems to be so tightly bound to fashion these days...they make it seem more like the dreamy, inspired ideal that you dream about when you're little.
Who wants to buy me the gorgeous black and white gown the model wears around the end of the ad?
Edit: The dress is pictured below.

What do you want to be when YOU grow up?

"The Power of Wind"
So, Epuron, a German company that works with alternative energy sources, won the highest award (The Golden Lion) at the International Advertising Festival in Cannes for "best advertising spot" for their advertisement, "The Power of Wind."
The commercial is genius. I love Germany. I love alternative energy sources. I love commercials.
