BESTIE x BESTIE!

OK...so everyone who spends a bit of time with me knows how obsessed I am with Marcel (the Shell with Shoes On). Dean Fleischer-Camp, the same guy who did the camera/editing for that, worked with Jenny Slater of recent SNL fame (and more importantly, the voice of Marcel the Shell) and her platonic life partner, Gabe Liedman, on "Bestie x Bestie." I can't wait for more of these.

"They have medium/OK personalities and neither one eats bugs. They've never seen each other naked."

Thanks, VSL, for the tip.

Edited to add:

I just found this from the trio. Hilar.

Donald Glover, marry me?

OK, so I'm in heaps of trouble. I'm turning into...a fangirl. Big time. It all started with the show, Community. It quickly became one of my favorites, especially the little sketches at the end between Troy and Abed. So...that's the first part. The way to my heart? Laughter. Always and forever. Then, time passes, and I start hearing about Donald Glover's album, which he offers for free download. Which led me to downloading his older mixtapes, where he reworks the likes of Grizzly Bear, Sleigh Bells, and Washed Out. Which led to me reading his blog (loves art, music, food, and has fantastic boy style) and following him on Twitter. Which led to me reading articles like this about him, where he references St. Vincent, The Cranberries, and Encyclopedia Brown. Needless to say, if I were 12 years younger, I'd be hanging posters of him over my bed.

Modern Family

Modern Family is so stinking funny, I can't even handle it. My favorite character is Manny. He's strong, yet sensitive. He's a great listener and is in touch with his roots.

Meet the family:

Does anyone else watch this show? I am hooked.

Juno 2: On Wheels

Whip It!

High points:
1. Kristen Wiig
2. Drew Barrymore
3. The theme of roller derby
4. That other Wilson brother
5. The dad is one of the bad guys from Home Alone AND Home Alone 2: Lost in New York

Loves it.

Slappin' da bass, mon!

This makes me laugh. Again and again. The kind of laugh that starts with a squeal and kind of ends in a gurgle. I keep watching this clip over and over to hear Paul Rudd's progressively weirder pronunciations of "Slappin' da bass, mon." Also, I hope it starts raining so I have a good excuse to stay in my pajamas all day. Otherwise I might have to do something insane, like putting on a bathing suit and going to the beach. Ugh.

SNL

I always forget to watch SNL when it's on, but, thanks to Hulu I get to catch up with all the best parts.

The first seven-eighths of this are hilarious:

And, Phoenix played some songs from their upcoming album (Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix). Here's my favorite song of theirs, lately:

Today is going to be a good day. I can feel it in my bones.

Spoleto

Charleston has, yet again, been bombarded with tourists for the annual Spoleto Festival. While, to many people, this means ballet, opera, symphonies, chamber music, and other classics, those of us who live in Charleston know better. With Spoleto comes Piccolo Spoleto--Charleston's Fringe Entertainment.

Last weekend, we went to see one of the final Charleston performances of Cabaret Kiki before the wonderful and talented Bivens brothers take the show to The Windy City. Evan Bivens plays my favorite character of the show--Kurt Nihilist--who speaks with a German accent and is hilarious and, well, perfect.

See him here, from an early Kiki Perfromance:

And, of course, my favorite song from the show:

This song gives me chills when it's performed live.

Anyway...I rave too much about this show.

I bought tickets for Chandler and me to see Scheer and McBrayer

at Theatre 99.

If those names don't ring a bell, let me illustrate:

from Timeout.com
Paul Scheer is best known for his work in VH1's Best Week Ever and MTV's Human Giant.

from NYMag.com
Jack McBrayer plays one "Kenneth Parcell" in a little show called, oh...30 ROCK.

They were a huge hit last year and I can't wait to laugh my pants off watching them.

Any other Spoleto events (Piccolo or otherwise) that you'd reccomend?
