I've been shoe-hunting lately, and I realized that I've found a few pairs in a particular color scheme. There's more where these come from, though! Prepare to try on some vintage things that add some strut to your step at the Lowcountry Artist Market on Saturday!

Lowcountry Artist Market Countdown.

A week from today is the Lowcountry Artist Market! I'll be posting all throughout the week about items I'll be featuring there. Lately I've had an obsession with accordion-pleated skirts and plaid. You'll see plenty of both trends among the racks next weekend, but today, I'm showing off two skirts that incorporate both trends!

I love the color palette in this skirt. My personal autumn/winter palette rests solidly in these colors.

Something extra special about this skirt is that it has a double-sided zipper. It's reversible! Two skirts for the price of one!

A week.

Steven's heading out today for a weeklong mini-tour with his good friend, musician Nathan Reich. (If you're in Nashville, Lynchburg, or NYC, you should check them out!) While he's out of town, I have BIG plans:

• dye my hair red 
• paint the bedroom a pretty pale gray
• reorganize the entire house, room by room
• do yoga every day
• eat super clean--no sugar, flour, or coffee
• read a few books
• lots of time out with girlfriends

Here's a more realistic list of what my week will probably look like:

• nights spent lazing on the couch watching season two of Downton Abbey
• mac 'n' cheese dinners and pints of ice cream
• last-minute cleaning spree at the end of the week
• hair will probably stay the same color, unless Margaret comes over and does it for me
• lots of snuggling with this gal
• chick flicks, chick flicks, chick flicks 
• sweatpants, sweatpants, sweatpants

It'll be a big struggle between good and evil this week. Let's see which side wins.

Lazy Sunday (and Saturday, and Friday).

I have almost nothing to show for this weekend. I practically never left the house, except for to walk around the neighborhood or run to the grocery store. I didn't shop or socialize with friends. It was amazing. I forgot what it felt like to have zero plans, and I needed a weekend where I proudly accomplished practically nothing (besides making a killer butternut squash, carrot, and ginger soup for dinner this evening).

I did, however, clean out my closet again. Some of these items are new additions to eBay, and others are pieces that unfortunately didn't sell last go-round. I've decided to make all items free shipping to people in the U.S., so if you're interested, bid away! Shipping's on me!

A weekend through Instagram.

    

(row no. 1) Maya is tied up and a Saturday morning curb find; (row no.2) alligator warnings and cute friends; (row no. 3) Friend Toad and an eerie tower; (row no. 4) Where the Wild Things Are and Jesus Saves.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) I didn't have my phone on me for a lot of the fun times, but no Instagram can capture the mood you get from the sound of old records over French press coffee and delicious breakfasts and comfortable conversations with good pals.

Weekend adventuring.

In just a few hours, these crazy kids will be coming down to Charleston for the weekend. When C + D come to visit, we rarely have set plans in mind, but, yet, we always manage to have a fantastic time. Mostly because these peeps have a sense of adventure. I can't wait.

Halloweenies.

It's that time of year again, when I scramble through my closets and seek vintage' archives to come up with an assemblage of items that hopefully resembles some sort of costume. I've been a cougar and a German girl (not much of a stretch), and this year, I just want an excuse to wear the Zara dress that still has the tags on it.

I think I'm going to be a mod ghost.

Instagramming.

So, my iPhone is about the greatest thing since sliced bread. Instagram is my absolute favorite, and I apologize to my Instagram followers for the amount of images I add (not really). Pictured: "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians" and Caesar at Sci-Fi night; Professor Maya and my new haircut; pumpkin chocolate chip pancakes and reflective pets; Mexican Cokes and sunglasses at the park. 

Not pictured: evening walk through Avondale and dinner with friends; the devouring of a Sweeteeth Sea is for Caramel bar; my new bronzey-gold flats (a wardrobe staple, as far as I am concerned); and my new nail polish obsession. These will probably all be future Instagram subjects, though.

An October weekend.

A weekend at home in Charleston! I can barely remember what that feels like. Here are some of the things I'm looking forward to, starting in just a few hours:

• dinner downtown and a sci-fi show
• a lazy Saturday morning and an afternoon hair appointment (I haven't had a cut in ages)
• a Saturday evening, exploring our neighborhood with friends 
• delicious Sunday homemade breakfast plans

And besides that, not much else. I'm looking forward to sleeping in, lazy mornings on the couch, movie nights, and being at home, sweet home. 

My weekend will hopefully look a lot like this (even though Maya is now a lot bigger, she's still just as snuggly), plus a boyfriend, and a cat, and some good friends: 

Treasure troves.

I've been on Etsy for a while, but am just now learning about all the fancy things you can do there. Making a treasury is a great way to group items you love together...it can be a wish list or mood board, or anything, really. I've made my first treasuries today:

Save the Date: Lowcountry Artist Market

It's that time of year again! Next month is the Fall 2011 Lowcountry Artist Market. I'm so excited to be part of this event. There are so many talented craftspeople and vintage sellers in this town who are showcasing some amazing things. It's always a huge struggle not to buy everything in sight. As for seek vintage, I'm so excited for fall. I've got some great coats and jackets, blouses to wear under winter layers, perfect Parisian berets in a few shades, and scarves to keep t. I'll be hunting like crazy over the next few weeks for unique pieces for the table.

Mountains and apples and more.

The weekend was as lovely as I expected. Warm, beautiful days; chilly, cozy nights. Good food, family, long drives, piles of apples, a trip to Asheville, a stop at the French Broad River, outdoor cooking, and a pretty drive home.
